Correction
Last week's newsletter had an unfortunate error when it was sent out. The news item on the Wright wood scale models mentioned Farnsworth House, which is by Mies van der Rohe. The Frank Lloyd Wright models offered are Unity Temple, the First Jacobs House, Guggenheim Museum, and SC Johnson Wax Administration Building. You can read the corrected item here.

New Permanent Exhibit At Price Tower Opens In June
Later this month Price Tower will celebrate the arrival of two new art exhibitions, "The Love of Art: The Cox Collection" on June 11 as well as the opening of a new permanent exhibition June 18, on Price Tower's second floor, which features the full story of Frank Lloyd Wright's only realized skyscraper. Visitors can experience the unique construction techniques, furniture, drawings, photographs and never-before-seen construction film footage. The new exhibit also takes a deep look into the H.C. Price Company, Frank Lloyd Wright's long career and the skyscraper he finally achieved. This permanent display is free and will remain open to the public. To celebrate the opening on June 18, Price Tower's outdoor dining venue The Plaza will host live jazz and pop music from Oklahoma-based band Ann-Janette & the Evolution. More info here.
20th Century Visionaries: Catalysts For Change
Public Radio Tulsa is presenting Tulsa Chautauqua 2021, a virtual festival happening June 8th through the 12th on the theme of "20th Century Visionaries: Catalysts for Change." For this series of events — which will be presented this year in an online-only format — five different scholar/performers will offer entertaining and educational presentations and workshops on the lives of Gene Rodenberry, Gertrude Bell, Marshall McLuhan, Marie Curie, and Frank Lloyd Wright. Inside The $8M Lykes House
Architectural Digest brings you to Phoenix, Arizona to virtually tour one of the last homes ever designed by legendary architect Frank Lloyd Wright (though finished after his death in 1959). The stunning Norman Lykes House flows seamlessly from one room to the next within its concentric floorplan, complementing the craggy hills of Palm Canyon. It's been on and off the market before, but is now for sale for just shy of $8 million. See more here.
Design like Frank Lloyd Wright
"Design like Frank Lloyd Wright" is a ninety-minute, one-mile tour in Springfield, IL that uses hands-on drawing and sketching activities and a walk into the Aristocracy Hill neighborhood to explore the development of Wright's iconic architectural style, from his childhood experiences through the design of the Dana-Thomas House (1902-04) and other prairie homes. Guests of all ages will develop an understanding of the basic principles of organic architecture as they learn to design like Frank Lloyd Wright. Please note, this tour only explores the exterior of sites. Drawing supplies provided, or you may bring your own. More info here.
