Alabama’s Only Frank Lloyd Wright Home Houses History
Alvin Rosenbaum grew up in the only home in Alabama that Frank Lloyd Wright designed. “It drew an international, curious audience,” Rosenbaum said. “The world came to us in some ways. We had many interesting visitors.” The Rosenbaum House in the city of Florence is open for public tours and is one of Wright's most wonderful Usonian designs. Read more.
Auldbrass Tickets May Still Be Available
Tickets for the initial 2017 tours of Auldbrass Plantation, Beaufort County, South Carolina's Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece—now owned by movie producer Joel Silver—sold out within minutes. Hundreds of hopefuls were left empty-handed. After hearing the news, Silver offered to open his house up for a second weekend of tours. If there are any tickets remaining, the cost is $150 and the tours will take place from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm on Nov. 11 and 12, 2017. Frank Lloyd Wright on Desert Life
The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation's Whirling Arrow blog has a piece about one of Mr. Wright's cherished Sunday morning talks. On November 29, 1952, he spoke to apprentices on the wonders of desert living and the importance of embracing the surrounding beauty. The talk was published by Cornelia Brierly in “Desert Life: Desert Foliage at Taliesin West.” Read more.

Touring The Newly Restored Darwin Martin House
Frank Lloyd Wright’s newly restored Darwin Martin House is one of his most celebrated commissions. The building was one of the more extravagant private residences the architect ever designed, and also one of his favorites. Sean Patrick Flynn of Travel and Leisure was given a private tour by Mary Roberts, the Executive Director of the Martin House Restoration Corporation to see what a $50-million renovation looks like. Bringing Wright's Personal Relationships Alive
Tim Totten, a Frank Lloyd Wright expert who has studied the architect for a quarter century, presents "The Wright Women: The Architectural Genius' Lovers and the Houses He Built for Them”, hosted by the Eustis Memorial Library in Eustis, Florida. The 90-minute program is supplemented by more than 200 photographs and is a free presentation at 6 pm Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2017 at the Woman’s Club of Eustis, 227 N. Center St. Read more.

Designing With Light
If you're intrigued by the role of light in architecture (and how Frank Lloyd Wright used it) then you're going to want to check out the Frank Lloyd Wright Trust's free symposium, "Designing with Light" at the Chicago Architecture Biennial. Featured speakers are author and historian Mark Hertzberg on Wright's SC Johnson Administration Building; lighting designer Hervé Descottes, co-founder of the lighting design firm L'Observatoire International, New York City, on the importance of lighting in the public realm; and architect Kulapat Yantrasast, founding partner and creative director at the Los Angeles-based design firm wHY, on his experiences with light in designing museums and art galleries. Following illustrated presentations by the speakers, participants will join Frank Lloyd Wright Trust Curator David Bagnall for a panel discussion and audience questions. Read more.
Laurent House Twilight Tour Celebrates Wright
A twilight tour to celebrate Frank Lloyd Wright’s 150th birthday will be held from 6-9pm Sept. 23, 2017 at the Laurent House, 4646 Spring Brook Road, Rockford, Illinois. Check-in will begin at 6 pm at Loves Park City Hall, 100 Heart Blvd., where attendees will be taken by shuttle to the Laurent House. The cost is $50, and that includes the tour, appetizers, cake, and one beverage. Read more.
